In 2015, McGrath Properties partnered with Boston Properties to entitle a 24-story residential tower across from the MacArthur BART station. The completed tower houses 402 residential apartments, including market rate and affordable units, 260 parking spaces, and 13,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.
Prior to the partnership with Boston Properties, McGrath partnered with Bridge Housing on the approval of 875 housing units across five buildings, with 20 percent affordable, roughly 40,000 square feet of retail space, and 450 BART parking spaces in a six-story garage. The original site plus neighboring properties totaled 7.75 acres, divided into five parcels. That project neighbors the 24-story high-rise.
The development process included more than 100 public and community meetings and presentations, remediation of site contamination, design and construction of horizontal infrastructure, and subsequent vertical construction.
